This past July, my team and I were honored to join the district in several community events. It was wonderful to be surrounded by the hard-working, dedicated members of our community. It is that dedication that inspires me to continue fighting at our capital down in Springfield. In case you missed it, here is a short recap of July here in Illinois 2nd State House District. In addition, I wanted to showcase some upcoming events as we head into August, especially with back to school season around the corner.

On the 4th of July, I had the honor of walking in the Riverside Independence Day Parade with many members of the community to highlight our state insect, the Monarch Butterfly. The Cicero 4th of July Parade was also an amazing opportunity to gather the members of our community to celebrate our nation's 250th birthday. Congratulations to the many scholarship winners awarded at the Hawthorne Racetrack Picnic. Earlier this month, we had our Citizenship Workshop, which could not have been done without our many partners including Family Focus, Illinois Coalition for Immigrants and Refugees Rights (ICIRR), and the Office of House Representative Jesus "Chuy" Garcia. We had a great turnout at our I-Pass/I-Cash event at our Riverside Office. With the new school year right around the corner, we are excited to have kicked off the Back-to-School season with our Cicero Back to School Fair.
